Rector's Message

The State Agrarian University of Moldova (SAUM), the only higher agricultural education institution in the Republic of Moldova and the first higher education institution founded in Chisinau in 1933. It’s the unique university from Moldova that during this period has identified itself with the history of our people who passed through two radical changes in conceptions and mentalities connected with two transitions from a system to another, to which correspond the changes in our university’s denomination.
Nowadays SAUM is well-known and appreciated both in our country and abroad thanks to its results in preparing scientifically competent and competitive specialists and to the university’s extension.
More than 50,000 specialists, included over 1,000 from 67 countries, trained in this institution distinguished themselves by remarkable results both in our country and abroad not only in agriculture but also in other branches of the economy. Among the SAUM graduates we can mention a number of personalities: presidents of the country, prime ministers, members of Parliament, ambassadors, ministers, members of the Academy of Sciences, writers etc.
SAUM thesaurus consists of persons with significant contribution to both university and country’s development, well-known personalities who founded this University and contributed to its affirmation and prosperity.
The University has a proud history not only in training students providing a good learning environment, SAUM asserted itself by a scientific staff of great importance that has national and international notoriety. The results of their scientific research were published in a big number of scientific publications and implemented in production.
At present, SAUM has about 7000 students and master degree students trained respectively at 25 specialties and 25 specializations, possesses a rich intellectual potential of significant infrastructure aimed at supporting the work of teachers, scientific researches and social protection.
SAUM future strategy of development is oriented toward Bologna Process requirements, harmonizing agricultural higher education with international standards by modernizing research and university extension.
