P. Tomiţa, Dean of the Faculty

Specialists training in agrarian economy began in 1961 within the Faculty of Agronomy at the speciality Economics and Agricultural Organization, on the basis of which the Faculty of Economics is founded in 1965.

At present the faculty has 8 departments and an intellectual and instructive teaching potential that includes more than 100 teachers, including 3 doctors habilitatus, Professors, 39 doctors of sciences, associate professors, 13 senior lecturers, and more than 40 lecturers and lecturer assistants.

In 45 years, the faculty trained more than 8500 specialists in the field of agricultural economics, among them more than 100 foreign citizens from Syria, Romania and Ukraine. Since 1986, the Scientific Council specialized in defending dissertations of doctor habilitatus and doctor of economic sciences activates within the faculty. Up to the present, 13 doctors habilitatus and more than 50 doctors of sciences have been prepared within the faculty.

The scientific activity of the faculty’s scholars is oriented towards several important directions: Economic mechanism elaboration for economic agents activity in the agro-alimentary sector; Improvement of the managerial mechanism in agricultural units; Efficiency determination of development alternatives in agriculture and in the whole rural area of the country.

Actually, more than 2000 students study at 7 specialities, in 2 cycles:

Cycle I – higher bachelor studies

The term of studies is 3 years

Specialities:

  • General Economy
  • Business and administration
  • Marketing and logistics
  • Finances and banks
  • World economics and EIR (economic international relations)
  • Acquisitions

The graduates obtain the degree: Licentiate in economic sciences

  • Tourism

The graduates obtain the degree: Licentiate in public services

Cycle II – higher master degree studies

The term of studies is 2 years

Specialities:

  • Economics and management in the agrarian sector
  • Economics and policies of rural development
  • Business administration in the agrarian sector
  • Agro-alimentary marketing
  • Finances and control in the agro-alimentary sector
  • Agricultural cooperation and economic European integration
  • Rural tourism

The graduates obtain the degree: Master in economic sciences, Master in public services

Doctor’s degree studies

Scientific specialities:

  • Economics and management (in the sector)

The graduates obtain the degree: Doctor in economics
