Animal Husbandry and Biotechnologies

N. Eremia, Dean of the Faculty

The faculty was opened in 1940 on the basis of the general and special animal breeding department of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences from Chisinau. The faculty has its recent name since 2001.

The faculty’s 4 departments’ staff lists 34 persons, including 7 professors and 14 associate professors.

At present the faculty brings together more than 400 students at 2 specialities: Animal husbandry and Agricultural biotechnologies.

The faculty has an important teaching-scientific basis, which includes: laboratories for animals’ selection and standardized feeding, incubators for eggs, artificial insemination and transfer of embryos, didactic bee garden, a classroom equipped with computers etc.

Faculty’s professors and scientists are the authors of many university courses, treatises, handbooks, synthetic works etc. Their researches have been recognized at a national and even international level (the foundation of true schools in the field of animal husbandry, creation of new crosses of animals and birds, amelioration in a body of the productivity of all animals and birds species from the republic, elaboration of theoretical bases and practical methods to ensure a proteinic nutrition of pigs etc.). Their results founded the basis of applied technologies in animal husbandry.

Two Specialized Scientific Councils activate within the faculty, in order to defend doctor and doctor habilitatus dissertations in agriculture in the following specialities: Animal breeding technology and animal products obtaining and the Amelioration and biotechnology of animals reproduction.

The faculty’s staff maintains scientific collaboration relations with the institutions from Romania, France, Russia, Belarus etc.

  • The Department of Physical Education

Cycle I – higher bachelor studies

The term of studies is 4 years

Specialities:

  • Animal husbandry
  • Agricultural biotechnologies

The graduates obtain the degree: Licentiate in agricultural sciences

Cycle II – higher master degree studies

The term of studies is 1,5 years

Specialities:

  • Biotechnologies in animal products obtaining and processing
  • Biotechnologies in animals reproduction

The graduates obtain the degree: Master in agricultural sciences

Doctor’s degree studies

Scientific specialities:

  • Human and animals physiology
  • Amelioration and biotechnology of animals reproduction
  • Animals feeding and fodders technology
  • Technology of animals breeding and of obtaining animal products

The graduates obtain the degree: Doctor in agricultural sciences
